What do I need to Rent a truck or van from VanHire?
Valid driver’s licence. Credit or debit card. Proof of insurance (if using your own insurance but we do offer insurance if you need it). Need to satisfy age and all of our normal rental qualifications and requirements.
How far in advance do I need to reserve a van?
Van Hire Galway Ireland requires no advance reservation. However, to ensure we have the van you want when you want it – advance planning is recommended. Call us now on 091-561427. We can respond quickly to last minute requests as well.
Insurance
All our hires include comprehensive motor insurance on a range of our vehicles up to and including our Luton Box van/ Truck . Subject to a policy excess of €1200.00+ vat.
A full drivers licence (class B or higher) for a minimum of 2 years without endorsements is required to drive the vehicle on Our Insurance. Hirers must be between the ages of 23 and 70 Years
Kilometre Allowance
Rates include 400 free kilometres per day, or 1800 kilometres per week. Excess kilometre charge of 8c per km
Additional Drivers
An additional driver can be added to your van hire provided they meet the requirements noted under “Insurance” above. There is an additional charge of € 10 + VAT for each additional driver per day.
Additional Named Drivers On Own Insurance Policy
Any drivers covered comprehensively on hirer’s insurance policy are insured to drive the vehicle. Subject to confirmation in writing to Van Hire Galway Ireland.
Child Seats
Are not permitted in commercial vehicles.
One Way Rentals – Can I pick up a van at one location and return it to a different location?
In short no, vehicles must be returned to the original location from where they were Hired.
Can I bring the vehicle abroad?
Yes you certainly can. We frequently organise uk & continental hire. You will need to arrange your own comprehensive motor insurance as we cannot offer insurance outside of Ireland but we’re happy to help. Please ask a member of staff for details.
When traveling abroad
Van Hire Galway Ireland require hirers to purchase AA 5* policy to cover accidents, breakdowns and if necessary recovery of the vehicle back to Ireland.
Breakdown Cover & Recovery
All hires in the Republic of Ireland are covered by our own recovery service or the AA – FREEPHONE 1800 66 77 88.
Van Hire Galway Ireland reserves the right to charge the renter for all expenses incurred on callouts relating to incidents other than mechanical failure. These might include:
Incorrect fuel in the vehicle. Lost keys or keys locked inside the vehicle, Off road recovery, Punctures or wheel change.
What Driving Licence do I need?
All vans up to and including “Small Box Trucks or Luton box vans can be driven on a class B driver’s licence,(car licence) up to 3500kg.larger vehicles require a class C1 or class C (HGV) driver’s licence. A Provisional Licence or Licence with Endorsements are not accepted.
Fines & Toll Charges
Speeding, parking fines, toll charges and all other penalties are the responsibility of the hirer in full. If you are using the M50 motorway in Dublin during your rental, please note that there is a barrier-free tolling system in operation. The toll plaza is situated between junction 6 and junction 7. As the renter of the vehicle, you are responsible for payment of this toll. Payment will be deducted from card details held by us on the termination of the hire.

Any penalties incurred for non-payment of the toll will be automatically charged to the card used for the hire, along with our current standard administration fee of €20.00 + VAT per penalty.

Fuel Policy
All vehicles are hired out with a ¼ tank of fuel approx. €25 It is preferred that the vehicle is returned with a ¼ tank of fuel for the convenience of the following hirer if we need to refill the vehicle with fuel you will be charged that cost.
Grace Periods
We offer a strict grace period of 1 hour within a 24 hour hire, additional charges will incur if the hire extends beyond this period..
Methods Of Payment
We accept cash, debit cards, most major credit cards: MasterCard, Visa, American Express. Any credit card used must have sufficient funds to cover the hire plus the insurance excess.

Monday to Friday 8.00am to 5.30pm
Saturday: 9am to 2.30 pm
Sundays, Bank Holidays. Closed
Drop off is available outside of business hours by prior arrangement. Please note that you are responsible for all and any damage to a vehicle returned after office hours.
